Eating Disorder Recovery Coach
Coaching vs Therapy
A coach does NOT diagnose or treat eating disorders. Instead, a coach supports the work of your treatment team.
Coaches work with you in the "here and now" supporting you through everyday challenges associated with ED recovery.
Coaching sessions can be held anywhere whenever the client needs support. Coaches can also provide support around exposures (restaurants, cooking, shopping, etc).
A coach will help support you in accomplishing established treatment goals.
A therapist can diagnose and "treat" eating disorders and co-morbid disorders (depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc).
A therapist can help clients understand exactly how and why their eating disorder developed.
Therapy sessions are typically 45 to 60 minutes and take place in an office setting.
A therapist will provide ongoing assessment, establish treatment goals, and and support you through carrying out your treatment plan.
